The Secret of Happiness

We are all the slaves of our emotions. There are both negative and positive emotions that rule our minds. Positive emotions are those that bring happiness to us, that include love, compassion, forgiveness, kindness etc., while negative emotions are those that make us restless and disappointed that include hate, jealousy, possessiveness, suspicion etc.


Anger perhaps is the most destructive of all emotions. Anger is one emotion that changes the person completely. This inturn makes a person violent and aggressive. The main problem is that the angry person refuses to listen to any sense which stops him of thinking what is right and wrong. The most sensible person can be turned almost into insane for a moment. They lose friends, they hurt their families, and also they hurt themselves too. Anger destroys one's peace of mind.


When you are in rage, you don’t know what you are doing. You lose control on yourself. Understanding the situation and correcting yourself is better than regretting later.


Usually when you expect something from somebody, and that doesnt happen, you get hurt. Its common for you to get angry at that moment of time, but greatness lies in realizing that expectations always hurt and its better for us not to expect anything from anybody.


Expectation is our happiness killer. Expecting too much sets us up for disappointment. So many times we fail because of the expectations we put on the other person and ourselves. When we learn to accept and be grateful for what we have and who we are, we let go our expectations.


In the contrary, not all expectations are painful. They become painful only when the outcome is not matching our expectations.


Sometimes we even get angry with ourself for doing something stupid. Do not question, how could you do this? how could you be so stupid? Instead, you can practice telling yourself, I let myself down. I will pick myself up now and never let myself fall again. I will stay positive no matter what.


Meditation and prayer are also good ways to control this. People often make great mistakes in their lives when they are angry. They spend many years in trying to undo the damage that they cause to others and most of all to themselves.


It is always better to reason than to take revenge. Always stay silent when you're hurt, because sometimes anger can ruin it more. When you are able to reason, your life will be beautiful once again.


Only tip to lead a carefree life is to stop expecting and start working.
